Signs you need a Roof Restoration

Signs from the outside:

  • Tiled and terracotta roofs will have broken/chipped and cracked tiles and ridgecapping is showing signs of cracking or breaking away.
  • Metal roofs show signs of the roof coating oxidising or rusty screws and sheeting.

Signs from the inside:

  • Watermarks on the internal ceilings.
  • Leak issues during heavy rainfall.

When should you organise a Roof Restoration?

  • Where leaks are detected during rainfall, check the main plumbing first i.e. gutters and downpipes.
  • If no maintenance has been carried out in a 10-15 year period, a roof restoration should definitely be organised.

Roof Leakage Problems

Leaking becomes a problem for a plumber to fix rather than requiring roof restoration when:

Leaks are caused from deteriorated gutters.

  • The leak is a result of blocked downpipes.
  • It’s as a result of cracked flashing.

How should you inspect your roof for these issues?

  • When cleaning out gutters check for signs of rust or holes in the metal surface.
  • During heavy rainfall when downpipes are leaking.
  • When leaking occurs during heavy rainfall between a house and patio roof.
