What is Globalcote Infracote?

Infracote roof paint uses technology to reflect the sun’s radiation away from a roof surface. It does this by targeting the invisible infrared portion of the sun’s radiation to help coated surfaces stay cooler and last longer than a coating that absorbs it.

If you touch the roof of a dark coloured car after it has been sitting in the sun for some time, you notice it’s quite hot. Some dark coloured surfaces can reach temperatures of over 90 degrees, ouch!

It’s no surprise that a roof surface captures huge amounts of the sun’s radiation due to their large surface area and angle of exposure throughout the day. Given the effect that dark roof colours have on interior house temperatures, as well as energy efficiency, it’s even more surprising to see that dark colours make up more than 70% of roofing colours used in suburbia.

Prevention is the best way. So to prevent a roof space from heating up to start with, you need to reflect the heat away. White and other lighter colours are the best way to go but, they aren’t always practical or allowed.

Metal Roof Restoration Karana Downs Client Testimonial

With the peak of summer making Kelahon’s Karana Downs home a little on the unbearable side, JMZ was able to offer a solution with Globalcote Infracote. Here is a bit more about their experience:

“JMZ repainted my 1980 Colorbond roof where all the paint had gone chalky and washed away. My house has a cathedral ceiling with no insulation and was impossible to add insulation to and so in summer it was a hotbox and we needed to have the air conditioning running anytime the temperature reached 30 degrees. JMZ painted my roof in white Globalcote Infracote and the impact has been immediate. Previously, coming home to a closed house on a 30 degree day, the inside temperature was about 32, now it is 22. I am so impressed with this product and the team who installed it. I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has a building that is hard or like mine, impossible, to improve the insulation. I am looking forward to much nicer summer living and a lower power bill as well.” – Kelahon B.

Choosing a roof colour isn’t just about what looks good. In Ipswich, it can also impact how hot your home gets, how long the coating lasts, and how well your roof handles storm season. So how do you pick the right colour — one that’s both beautiful and practical? Understanding Ipswich’s Climate and Its Impact on Colour Ipswich homes face a mix of harsh elements: Intense sunlight and UV radiation High summer heat - Seasonal storms and heavy rain Airborne dust and debris Dark roofs tend to absorb more heat, which can raise internal temperatures. They also fade faster under UV exposure. Lighter roofs reflect more sunlight, keeping your home cooler and helping the coating last longer.
